Tbh i dont think you hear of many stories of people being injured when not wearing a hat.. its usually personal opinion, or tradtition, and i agree its not good, but if theyre happy not wearing one and can accept the consequences, then i dont see any problem

lmao! Love it... It's true though, so many people don't wear a hat yet the 'elf and safety lot never pull them up. I say let people wear what they want to wear. Their head, their choice

Obviously a troll, but still made a good point!

Oh dear, what a silly thread. The hat debate has been done to death. I guess the OP has lots of time on their hands due to being snowbound, and has trawled ( or "trolled"?) the internet looking for pictures of heinous criminals.

Yawn.

agree with the above-its all about personal choice and risk assement....

.....i never wear at hat on the flat at home (except for 2 horses of clients that i make an exception for as they are a bit quirky and as i dont ride them on a daily basis im not as 25 steps ahead as i am on my own horses).if a client asked me to wear one i would of course do so. one trainer requires hats to be worn, the other doesnt, and the yard i clinic at also requires it, so i politely comply. people who ride at mine are welcome to do whatever they want, i hate it when people try to force their views on me so id never try and influence people either way.

my mum always wears one, my sister doesnt, up to the individual.

i always wear one to hack, as there are so many more oustide factors that you have to factor in, not least idiot drivers!

Hats off for presentations is traditional and its down to the individual to decide.I dont always wear a hat and it ms that would have to deal with any consequences so there isnt a problem

And you know whats really fun??
Riding with no hat, no saddle, no bridle, god that is the best!
On a serious note, this post is really quite pointless, many of the riders pictured are wearing a top hat, what is it then if it isnt a hat. The man hunting is wearing a hat. Most probably a patey hat made to measure his head. Just because it doesnt have a strap doesnt mean anything tbh! It's a riders choice whether he or she rides without a hat.

I didn't say it did mean anything (not having a strap on yer titfer) - I was simply pointing it out. I couldn't give a fig either way. However, I do believe the poster might be avin a larf, so tootly pip.
