Notice at tack shop

I was at my local tack shop the other day and they had a warning notice about 2 men in a white van Reg N53 XXX (last 3 letters got smudged when I wrote them down) taking photographs of horses at shows and in fields.
The thing was my daughter was with me and she lives 100 miles away and said there was the same notice at her local saddlers. I am wondering if this is one of those fake things that does the rounds, everyone thinking it is true and adding to the rumour. Has anyone else seen it or even started it with good reason?

If you look in the stolen horses section on the forum there are numerous posts about this already! Personally I think it is either a scam or something that has got completely out of hand but I would hate to be proven wrong

I know that people within the 'travelling fraternity' don't give a thought to travelling 300-400 miles per day all over the country so no matter where you are you still need to be aware of this report.
