Hi, I have just moved to Nottingham and dont really know the area that well!!

I was wondering if anyone could recommend any farriers/dentists/tack shops etc.

I keep my horse just outside West Bridgford so anything that side of town would be a great help!

Thank you

My farrier, vet, dentist, instructor, clipper, physio and saddler would cover West Bridgeford, pm me if you would like their details :D

(Not sure farrier has any space, and he is a bit ar$y (he would be first to admit it if he wasn't so perfect lol), but he is very good :D)

Hi, welcome to lovely Nottingham!

I'm in Bramcote so not too far from you. Think you are quite close to Martin's Farm in Arnold and Hoof Aloof in Ravenshead both of which are lovely tack shops for horsey stuff and clothing.

I use Andrew Knight as a farrier, would highly reccommend him very reliable and patient even with my naughty colt foal. Not sure if he covers your area but worth a try, he has a website if you google him.

Good luck with finding everything, if you can get hold of a copy of the Equestrian Life magazine that always has listings for tack shops, services as well as shows/rides etc.

Hi I am in Nottingham but the north side of the river! There is also St Clement's lodge in Calverton for a tack shop - near enough to Hoofaloof and Martin's Farm to do a round trip of all 3 if you fancy it!
PM me if you would like any more info....I am just in the process of looking for a new yard (potentially) so am just starting to look around.....

There is also Chukka Cove at Farndon (nearer Newark) that is useful - order anything you need and match internet prices!

Vet wise...The Minister practice in Southwell is good, pricey but they are good with horses and are very quick to come out (IME) in emergencies!

Melton Mowbray also has a tack sale once/twice a month, few stalls with cheaper items on but if you look on the tack auctions you can get some bargains on decent brands etc.

Sorry I can't help on farriers, mine is super busy!

If you want to double check any names (farrier wise - there are a couple of dodgy ones!) etc or anything else - PM me...and welcome to Nottingham!

Haha MrsMozart, I share the same farrier as you ;) He's not so bad when you get to know him... but excellent I agree :D :p ;)

If you want to pass names of farriers, let me know, as I am an absolute obsessive about feet, and can tell you who to avoid (I know most of them ;) )

Millside at Thurgaton are good for feed etc, and there are a couple of good tack shops in Calverton.

Dentists, I would ONLY use David Waters, and again, can tell you who to avoid.. he is an excellent dentist, just some people don't see eye to eye with him...

Vet wise, Matthew Barlow's proactise, Home Farm Equine are very local to you, and very very good. I am about 5/10mins from your area (Radcliffe/Bingham area) :)
