hi i am thinking of doing a novice working hunter for show experience do i have to canter on both reins and do i have to do a gallop can i do this on one rein instead of the canter i dont want to wind my youngster up too much it is his first outdoor show any advice would be appreciated

You need to walk away from the judge, trot and canter on both reins and finish with a gallop on either rein (not both). Good luck!

Gallop is usually on one rein and is usually after you have walked, trotted and cantered on both reins with all the other horses. The judge then pulls you in and will then hop on unless only one judge then its usually a show.
