so the movements of the test are fine, , just to make sure; the change of leg in canter through trot on the diagenal, how many strides of trot and when should i begin the tro, one stride before x?, also give and retake the reins, how mnay times? and the lenghtened canter- how does that work, is the lenghtened canter from m to f first time and h to k next time?

thanks in advance any tips will be much appreciated!

Hey, I is kind of new so I hope Im not talking out of place or anything. But I rode this test on Saturday and really enjoyed it. Do as few trot strides as what your horse is capable of over x, (I think i managed 3.) And for your give and retake just give your riens forward for as long as what your horse will take without breaking its outline, my horse is really good at this manouvere so i giv my reins about 5 inches forward for about 5 strides. For the medium canter just kick and try and go faster

, the most important thing is to show difference between your working and medium canter! Good luck and have fun!

Do as few or many trot strides as needed to get a balanced transition back to canter. Much better to take time and get a good transition, than rush and hash it!! Good luck

No you need to show clear trot stides, if you do one if wont be considered enough. You have to establish the trot and depending on how established you horse is will determine the exact number 3 or 4 would be fine, so people trot for far too long which isn't acceptable either.

Give and retake- push hands towards mouth and bring back in one continous movement. While staying sitting in saddle (not leaning forward!) usually over 3 stides, but remember the movement is continous and judges will want to see a loop in the reins.

Medium canter the aim is to cover more ground with each stride (not quicker) and for the frame to lengthen a little (so remember to soften your hands forwards a little)

Sally Merrison was also my examiner for my judges exam!
