Novice in hand class

I'm going to a local show on Sunday (organised by DarklyDreamingDex! :D)

I would love to try a showing class with Zoom but the only ridden classes she could do are 'family pony' (HA!) and 'horse most suited to rider'. The former she can't do since she is a bit silly at times and I don't think I can get her to walk or trot, a lovely collected polo canter at all times! The latter we can't do since she is 14.3 and I'm 6 foot!!

I was thinking of doing an in-hand class.....they have one called 'novice in-hand' but what are they looking for :confused: We have never done showing so qualify but should she be a 'type'?? :confused:

She will have been show jumping in the morning so might be a bit sweaty too :eek: I think she has nice confo, but I don't know tbh. The schedule says that they will be ignoring bumps/blemishes/scars etc so the fact that she has one eye shouldn't go against us :)

She is lovely :) , if it doesn't specify a type then I can only assume it will be open from everything from SP's to M&Ms as for what they would be looking for I couldnt tell you !

Haha!! Wierdly we are quite suited to each other, although you wouldn't guess it on paper!

Regarding the eye patch - there is a fancy dress competition and OH reckons I should dress Zoomy up as a pirate and I can be a parrot :D :D :D
 
Brilliant idea!!! I am also going to that show so I'll see you there! I'll be the one shouting "she's got both eyes- tell her to remove the eyepatch" from the sidelines ;)

Yay! It would be great to see you there. I'm not gonna have time to do a costume :( Think we're gonna just try the inhand and make idiots of ourselves doing SJ :D

Thats exactly it! Having fun without worrying you dont have a county show horse :)

Why not come into the over 16 gymkhana :D

Or-the first 2 ridden classes could suit you:

Class 21
"All my own work" Best Turned Out, judged on effort not the fanciest equipment!

Class 22
Novice
Combination of horse/pony never to have been placed 1-3rd in any ridden showing class.
Class will not canter as a group. Snaffles only.

Judges are lovely old school horsemen/women who wont be seduced by bling or warmbloods!

*whispers* we are low on pre-entries and there are rosettes to 6th ;)

WHOOP! We never win rosettes so that is DEFINATELY an incentive!

I wanted to do the turnout class but I'm going to do the 2'3 Sjing which is the same time DRAT and BLAST :(

I would LOVE to do the gymkana!! :D I am giving a lift to a friend who is riding a 12.2 nutty pony so she would probably enter with me :D I'm so excited. I have only done one show before since I didn't have a pony as a child

But you could do both - if you tell the jumping ring steward (JumpingBeckeyJanes mum from here) she will know you are going to zoom (pardon the pun) across after the showing class- which wont take long!

Wish Dex was well as he would have loved to have caused chaos and mayhem in the gymkhana :rolleyes:
 
Oooh, gymkhana too?? I'm so gonna win that! Can we elbow people out of the way like in the "Next" sale?? Do you have any showing classes where you don't have to trot? Osc has a mechanical unlenelness in trot :o( but he's VERY shiny!

In the adult section- anything goes :p :D

and to your second question-D'oh why didnt i think of that - then Jacobab the tripod clydie could have done a class too but you could do Turnout as they will only get out of walk AFTER the rosettes are handed out ;)

Hmm... I like your thinking but I'm not sure turnout will work very well, he is hogged and has a rubbed tail and my tack is frankly hideous, although vaguely clean (and I do own saddle soap). My jods are stained (I only wear them for jumping), my boots are brown (as legs too fat for the black ones) and my jacket is too small. How about a "worst turned out class"??? :p

Unless I can drag him in wearing a headcollar? Actually, they are also mostly broken..... :rolleyes:

My jods have a huge grass stain on the arse and my jacket doesn't fit over my boobs. My boots also have a broken zip :( Plus loads of **** gets stuck in Zoom's eye hole and she won't let me get it out.

At least I might get the sympathy vote as zoom is disabled!!!!! :D
 
You've missed a trick here Dex! How about a "Riding the disabled" class? Osc can hobble in with a walking stick, Zoom wears her eyepatch and who knows what else will rock up?

OH doesn't quite understand the paralympics and did ask if Zoom would be eligible! :D
