Do any of you peeps out there have any recommendations for a fly rug for me ... for this coming season that is nearly upon us

I used the Rambo Protector last year from about May til October and it allowed me to keep my very delicate skinned TB (who does a hooley at the sight of a fly

) out 24/7 but with access to a Field Shelter .... here is a piccy of one

However it rubbed his mane, as it had a detachable hood, and it has not come back as beautiful as it was (not the end of the world ... but there may be one out there that is better for him!) ....
The rug is now virtually a net as all the fibres have been worn away .... although it may last a little while longer I just want to know how everyone else, with an equally sensitive type of horse, got on ...and your recommendations

I had a Shires Maxi-Flow one on my Grey NF mare last year. It rubbed so much she would have been better without it! I have got all mine an Amigo Bug Rug this year....... see how it goes!

ive got an amigo bug rug, that successfully lasted last summer on a 4yo! it never rubbed, or slipped, and is made of very soft fabric, so good for sensitive skins
i would give one a try,and theyre reasonably priced too

I had the Bestest best rug ever (given to me by a friend who was into showing but gave up horses due to injury) for extremely sensitive NZ TB who had never met a fly in the southern hempisphere. He comes up in horrendous hives and lumps if he is bitten - so stays in during the day with rug/hood/tummy cover on and goes out at dark and is in at dawn - and covered in powerphazer fly spray - it stinks but works! (so much so i dont even want to go too near him) It was a Riff Raff - mint green and light and brill - but pretty much destroyed now - but didnt even rub, I have replaced it with a "bug buster" Amigo - and yes its nice but the neck isnt very long on it and he can manage (lord knows how) to widdle on the tummy cover.........
However being shiney - it is clever as it reflects the suns heat so he doesnt get too hot in it.. Im going to ask my tack mending saint if she can add a piece on to make the neck longer and see if we can slove the tummy and urine problem by re shaping it... sadly riff raff i have been told - dont make those rugs (if any) anymore :-(

Thank you to everyone for your recommendations ... I will go to the appropriate Web sites and have a little looky .... my friend lent me her old Boet rug, which are fabulous, however, I must admit that I found that you needed a degree in rugging to fit it and a lot of time

we had the rambo one for a desperately itchy cob thta worked really well for him, teamed with - like train robber said- power phazer- best fly spray i have ever come across deff reccomend it. I would try the amigo one, it sounds good...

I got a real cheap one from eBay for my mare as she has killed every fly rug she's had. It only cost abt £7 + P&P and it was great. My YO got one for her pony and it worked great on his sweetitch. I can't remember the shop - I think it was Horse House or Horseware - they were advertising themelves as a small family run business.
