I persevere with my mare. I had the most fantastic lesson on her this evening which left me with the biggest grin ever. She was soft, responsive and forward going. I have always known that she is a very capable horse but she does suffer from a lack concentration alot of the time and can be the most annoying fidget ever. But I have grown very fond of her over the last few months and I can say that I have had a lovely summer of fun.

I know this is a very self indulgent post, but I say to all you who struggle with your horses sometimes, hang in there and if you put the work in, it should all come right in the end, if only for the odd hour or so lol

Mares can be annoying, and can certainly test your patience, but you can't beat them when you do get them on side. It sounds like you're becoming a great partnership.

Great post, very encouraging. I often worry as I know my mare can't take me as far as I want to go in jumping, but if I'm honest with myself, even if I had a horse that jumped anything, I'd probably be too nervous to jump higher than about 2ft, which she'll do with some encouragement, so I'm happy really, just have to keep reminding myself. I want to do some winter dressage so trying to keep my spirits up that way.

Your post made me feel better, thanks
