Now I'm a timewaster

A bit of background info; I've recently made the decision to move home due to lack of funds. So I will be at my parents house paying half the rent I was previously paying in a rubbish flat. This does mean I need to find a new job because travelling half an hour each way for a job paying just over £6 an hour isn't worth it, especially when I'm only getting one 5 hour shift a week at the moment.

Because I moved I gave up my previous share horse. I was very lucky and wasn't paying for him. So I've not ridden since September and want to get into it. I emailed my previous shares owner but haven't had a reply yet and I sent the message on Friday. I saw someone looking for a rider for their horse on a local Facebook group so asked for some details.

I started getting into details, working out the financial contribution. I offered £50 and to help with her other horses too.

But then I realised I really can't afford to offer money to someone in case I don't get a job for a while. I do have some saving but I want to try and save them! I wouldn't want to let her down a month or two in.

So I made the tough decision to say sorry, no I can't. Now I feel like I've wasted her time and got her hopes up. I feel really bad. :(

I did my best to apologise, does this sound like a decent thing/the right thing to do in my circumstances?

Better to tell her now than continue. As long as you apologised, can't see how your a time waster especially if working out the financial details.

Agree that you should tell her sooner rather than later otherwise it will prob be deemed as wasting her time. Just explain that you have had a really good think about it and you are not 100% sure if you can commit and rather than waste her time you will give it a miss and let her find someone that can make the commitment.

Im sure she will understand. I have made rash decisions in the past and had to change my mind, if you explain and dont leave it too long people are usually very understanding :)

Don't worry I'm sure they will understand. Just keep looking for more suitable shares/rides, I'm sure you should be able to find something.
Just to give you some examples/hope; I am at university and have found people to ride my horse while I am away (no money involved.) I also know of people who are glad of help exercising and looking after their horses and would not ask for money (unfortunately I am not near you!). So I would recommend advertising in all your local tack shops. Hope you find something soon :)
