Now new pony is settled how should I progress?

Those who have read my posts will know the history those that dont basically lost my confidence on unsuitable horse bought a new one and shes settled now ok.

So from here how do I progress been hacking hacking hacking and we are going to a fun ride in a week and Ive never been before so any advice would be good. Would you introduce schooling now? jumping or stick with hacking? How do you all get used to new horses?

The only way to get used to them is by riding them. Well of course you can do groundwork and loads of grooming etc to build a relationship but ride, ride, ride. If you have transport take him out loads to all different places. You can take him to shows and just get him out tack him up and ride in the collecting ring or around the other boxes depending on how big the show - you can take him to a local forest or park with a good bridleway network.

As for sponsored rides - go with a responsible friend with a quiet horse - just walk and trot round and have fun!
