Whilst out riding today Flyn pegged a cock pheasant with a broken leg but he soon got bored of it when he couldn't give it to me. So Toby picked the bird up (now dead) and carried it all the way home...........all 4 miles ! Across the moors, through the bog, down the track, following me cantering - what a dedicated dog he is!

It is now hanging in the shed and we will eat it tomorrow

He knows his job well! Clever Flyn.

I am going to have to be careful taking labs to the yard now (although I normally only take either Tina or wee Beastie dog, not Cindy) as they released 150 pheasants on the land!

Thats a funny time of year to release birds, they don't do that here until late summer as the season for pheasants doesn't start until November

They're not for shooting *sobs*

No idea why they have released them, they came from somewhere in Gortin (town over here) what I reckon is they have had too many left over at the end of season maybe and trying to shift them?

Oh bless him

I do miss canine Puppy being able to come riding with me, or going out with the shoot. Something tells me that Popple will never be well trained enough for either!
