After coming out of stable hopping lame on Monday (my birthday!) and being diagnosed with suspected tendon/check ligament, Bonkers black pony was looking pretty sparky after a few days box rest and was danilon. Today, whilst grooming a black pony in the dark I realised that the scabby elbow he had when his hives came up at the weekend was now attached to a very swollen thigh and armpit. Cue out if hours vet call and diagnosed cellulitis.

Poor pony. No injuries in the 4yrs I've had him and now the same leg twice in a week! He was so good with the vet clipping and scrubbing it (although he did manage to kick me in the knee waving his leg around, so now I am lame too!)

First of all belated Birthday wishes for Monday, and I hope that your knee is not too painfull. Sorry to hear about your poor pony, we had a horse on our yard with this and she made a very good recovery so sending get well soon wishes to your pony oh and you :D

Thanks, I suppose only positive is that he has chosen the week with the most vile weather to start his box res. His field is a complete swamp/lake so I don't real as bad knowing he is stuck inside. And I haven't had to force myself to get up at 5am to ride in horrid weather.
