i use sheepskin half pads....i would put something underneath to keep them clean but then it makes the saddle feel perched :/ i prefer pads but find they come up too long at the bottom for both taz and rio so i quite often dont bother :o but with taz i go with numnahs and Rio either half pad or saddle pad depending how im feeling and whats in the wash :)

Ummm... please don't shout at my novicey question, but what's the difference? Is it the cut, the thickness? I've never really known :o

Saddle pad (saddle cloth)

Numnah, purely because I have never found a saddle cloth that fits with my pony and his saddle. :) However I think a well fitted saddle cloth looks lovely and wish I could find one that fitted.

I don't like numnahs that don't fit the saddle exactly, or that slip and make the edges uneven, and I find saddlepads look a bit big on my short backed haffy but are probably my preferred of the two!

I love sheepskin half pads, have one but never seems to be appropriate fit wise... Also I use a geleze sticky type pad which I LOVE and is the bestest pad of them all!

Either/or! I use both - I like saddle pads as you can be a bit more colourful if the mood takes, but equally like the simplicity of a numnah.

I use both with a sheepskin half pad anyway.
