Has anyone had difficulties getting numnahs for their WOW saddles or other close contact saddles? I work for a company that makes this kind of thing and we have noticed a real increase in people asking for specific numnahs for this type of saddle. We are thinking of make a special one, but if there are already lots of options on the market then its probably not worth it. Would be interested in your views?

I havnt found it a problem with my WOW at all. There are about 12 on my old yard and not aware of anyone else struggling either!

I just make sure to tuck the girth straps under the flap and this keeps it in place

We were thinking of making a numnah with short straps that would attach to the D ring. Interested to hear that you just use normal numnahs though.

I use a thin Numed High Wither saddle cloth only with my close contact saddle, purely to keep the bottom of the saddle clean. The Flair Korrector pads have a lace on them which ties to the D rings and makes them very stable. I actually think it is a really good idea Oldmare. And for all numnah's, not just for WOW and close contact saddles. Let's face it, a lot of the time numnahs fall down no matter how much you try to position them correctly.

Lots of companys do make them for close contact saddles- most dressage squares come with D Ring attactments anyway but they all seem quite expensive if you are only looking for everyday numnahs. I have a couple of Nu-meds which are very good, other than that I use Poly Pads.

I use either a Nuu-med high wither numnah which does have little straps that attach to the D-rings or my bargain Bartl saddle cloth that I got off ebay. That has conventional girth attachments that I tuck between the flaps and the panel. I prefer the D-ring connection though.

Huuuge problems getting them!

Its not the D rings so much as the cut.

Bought some normal cheap Roma ones, which get instantly sucked up into the back of the wow.

Poly pads are quite good, but defeat the object of having a wow....

I have close contact and I would like shorter and narrower straps for a numnah. I can use an ordinary one but trying to get my breastplate attached to D rings as well as numnah is a pain. I hate paying much money for saddle cloths as they only last me 6 months and I use a Poly pad for hacking but Poly Pad moves so cannot compete in it.

Nuumed now doing a special close contact jumping square and numnah with short velcro fastenings for d rings, great for WOW jumping and Xc saddles also for other close contact jumping saddles like the albions, they stay in place very well.
Nuumed also do dressage squres and numnahs with short straps too, they work as well.

Yes! Please make them to give us WOW owners more choice!
I use nuumed ones with D attachments, but they were really expensive (full wool ones). I'm not a poly pad fan, I prefer a numnah for everyday.
Also, my wow fitter told me not to use half wool, as it's not the right shape for the wow pannals.

I would like a forward cut (REALLY forward cut) cotton numnah for my WOW please

My numnah is really forward cut; my wow fitter is also a nuumed lady, and she has them custom made. They are also wider at the back to allow for the pannals. They do cost a bit more though....... surprise surprise!

Word on the street is that your fitter and nuumed haven't quite seen eye to eye and now if you want a wow nuumed they want you to send them a template.

Well I was disappointed as my fitter said that your fitter got them made, but nuumed were VERY cagey about the whole thing and said I'd have to send them a template

What a pain in the behind!

I thought she told me that she sends in a template

(this was a while ago though), as she knows what shape your (or mine) saddle will be- hence mine really is a mirror fit of my saddle.
They do cost more though, which annoys me!!

Thanks guys, it was really interesting to hear your comments. I think we will give it whirl and maybe do a fully wool lined one like the nuumed and also just a standard numnah and see how they go.

I don't have a wow saddle but I do have a close contact and again struggle to find saddlecloths (don't like numnahs) that fit without a huge price tag. Surely it doesn't cost any more to manufacture better shaped ones so I don't understand why the lower end of the range (roma etc) don't make forward cut saddlecloths.

OK great, that makes it very easy! Can I ask one more thing... given that there are interchangeable panels would we need to make multiple versions do you think?

Hmmm, I feel a forward cut numnah and saddle cloth looming as well

! Looks like our range is going to expand. The only thing is we couldnt be quite as cheap as Roma as we make in the UK (and our machinists have to eat!) but dont see why they have to cost any more than a GP. Its not as though they are harder or more expensive to make.

I've a single flap saddle and would love a reasonably priced saddlecloth with the D ring attachments. I really only use it as a liner so wouldn't want padding/bulk. I think it's a great idea as nuumed seem to have the market cornered in this area.
