I have always used sheepskin numnah for my boy, but saddler now says use basic cotton one as he has filled out alot. Problem is I have an 18inch saddle and all the numnahs I have are too small. Can anyone suggest which make I should buy, I don't want to keep buying them and throwing money away. Ta

Numed XL are generously cut and fit the saddles well!

Well I have exactly the same problem (I have an 18.5"!) I found that throwgood ones fitted him but only just! the one he wears almost all the time, I got from hickstead its the only extra full saddlecloth I have found at a decent price £10! If you are going to any big shows soon look out there the best places to get HUGE numnahs/saddlecloths

I never understand why people pay to get a saddle fitted then shove 2 inches of padding underneath it? I’m with your saddler – its logical to me. I use a good quality saddle cloth and occasionally a gel pad, but only because my boy has got a really sensitive back that rubs easily. Saddle cloths are better than numnahs, methinks. Equiports are HUGE

My boy has large sized Shires Numnah on under his 18" and its fine....

His Joules saddlecloth is massive too...

Never had any probs getting one big enough, never actually thought about it tbh....

Im a Mattes addict. They are really generous and dont slip down to put pressure on withers. I dont use the sheepskin version- just plain cotton. Works for me.

I had my saddle fitted and it is a lovely fit, so I use a thin saddle cloth. I find that the cheaper ones tend to be big. I got one from Tesco, I`m sure I only paid £6 for it. I also got another from HOYS. When buying I always measure them.

I prefer numnahs to saddlecloths and although my Lauriche dressage saddle is 17" it is large so I get a saddle cloth, cut it to the correct shape and get it rebound by my local saddler.
