hi there, i have got a plain non padded brown numnah for my pony/cob (welsh/arab) and it really annoys me ! - every time i do up his girth it always slips back therefore there is no protected area from rubbing around his shoulder. I was wondering if anybody has any ideas of which numnah to buy ? Maybe a non-slip one? or maybe just a bigger size ?
thanks for your time,
Emma x

I would go for a high wither type from numed, they tend to fit better to the saddle as they fit into the gullet and stay put better!

The horseware handy pads are also great as they have no fixing straps and don't budge!

I always cut the straps off numnahs/saddlecloths, they seem to stay put better then, without pressure points.

If you are not going to try and sell your current numnah you could give it a try!

I will never use anything but a numed hi wither numnah they fit perfectly and do not move at all. I know they ate expensive initially but I've had mine 10 years used daily and still good as new :)

Sometimes a numnah slipping drastically (and do bear in mind that if the saddle fits there should be no rubbing as there should be no movement, just pressure on the front binding in this case!) indicates a less than perfect saddle fit. If you ride with no numnah does the saddle stay perfectly still? Use a good pair of eyes on the ground to assess it for sideways movement, or movement forwards or backwards, or lifting at the back. Also lift the saddle fo carefully when you untack so that you can see any signs of ruffled hair - a sign of uneven pressure or of movement.
