Pups are obviously pedigree but not KC registered. Allegedly, the dam is but having been on the KC website, I can't understand how to find the family of the pups. I've put in her name and some others that are on the family tree the breeder gave me. I dunno why he'd other to make up a ton of names if they weren't true.

I'm not bothered if I can't find them, but it would be interesting to trace them. Any ideas?

Usual reason for not being registered is dishonesty.

It only costs £11 to register a pup. Not registered generally means bitch bred too many times or too old or young or disregarding an endorsement.

We see some wonderful works of fiction with some of the Bassets coming in for welfare.
Random real dog names plonked on pedigrees.

Some people do like to invent pedigrees. Someone contacted us once because they had a pup by our dog and wanted to see him. Ermm, sorry no you don't because the dog has been dead for several years. Turns out the people selling the pup had used a son of his a while back and just decided to pick a random name out of the pedigree for their latest litter.

Dishonesty and being tight :( and then if something goes wrong with the pup the buyer has nowhere to turn, no database to search, no health registry to check, no way to flag up problem dogs in the line, oh dear, what a pity, never mind.

That's why we have the DNA registry and additionally, ID checks at shows.

MM don't know if you remember, someone breaking into C's kennel and using one of his males then turning him loose, scumbags!!!
