I have done a bit of ridden and in-hand coloured showing in the past, all at very local level, I now have a spotty and would love to take her to a couple of summer shows, but I'm not sure what classes we could do, I'm assuming that spotties don't count as coloureds, oh and we don't jump (cos I am old and she is young:D),
Any suggestions would be fab,
Thank you:)

At many shows spotties do class as coloured. It can be a bit hit or miss with a coloured judge but some do like spotties.

You can also do which ever classes she has the conformation for.

Technically spotties do not count as coloured, so affiliated coloured classes (the ones that say CHAPS or BSPA on the schedule) are not open to you. At lower levels, however, it varies. Some schedules may specify whether spotties are allowed or not. If they are then fab! If they don't specify then it will be down to the judge on the day. You may meet ones who put you down the bottom end of the line because a spotty is not a 'coloured', and then you'll get others who won't mind. Nothing you can do about that and part of showing I'm afraid!

Otherwise, it's hard to say without a photo what classes will be best. But I'll go with what Vanner says since she's seen a photo. You can get show hunter classes which are entirely on the flat. Walk, trot, canter as a ride, and then the judge will ride the horse as well. It's good fun!

Classes with jumps are riding club horse and working hunter, so those are the ones to avoid!

Working Hunter involves jumping, Hunter Type does not :) Some local shows will count spotties but as others have said some detest spotties, if my mum was a judge she really dislikes spotties (I love 'em) so you would be down to the bottom  really depends and as said without a photo we cant say.

If your doing unaffiliated level most shows do odd coloured classes, which are for dun, palaminos, roans and spotties.
If you happy to jump a small jump you could do riding club horse, you usually only have to do 1 small jump often a cross pole.
ANd then there are classes like best rider class. Family pony/horse if hes quiet.

Just seen pics, in hand may be a good one :) seeing as from the photos i have seen (Spotty Update) She still look rather 'leggy' unless she's older now.

If the horse is suitable for hunter classes, you may be able to register him as a part bred appy, have a look at them BAPS website
