I did a great one the other day, I threw a rug over my horse and didn't realise that the surcingle had gone over the (turned off) electric fence rope and I nearly fastened the rug with the fence attached to it. Luckily I realised. Major accident waiting to happen. I shouldnt be allowed horses!!! (Am normally very competant honest)

Come on own up to your best numpty things - can't be worse than mine.

The first time I rode after moving yards, everything went well and I was really pleased with myself. Hopped off ponio in the school, ran up my stirrups, loosened girth and led him back to the stables. The walk from school to stables is quite a bit further than at the yard I was at before...

...I walked in to the barn to be greeted by another livery who gave me a very funny look and said "Erm...is his saddle supposed to be under his belly?!" I looked at her blankly for a moment, turned to look at ponio, and sure enough there it was dangling under his belly....oooops

I once left my pony tied up all night

I was about 10 years old, and I'd given her her feed whilst she was tied up and I was grooming her.....I just forgot to untie her, as she was still eating when I finished! Bless her heart, she stood there all night; she could have pulled back and broken the string so easily, but she didnt!

Once went to help out at a cross country event at a riding school and took the car. Parked the car not realising I had parked on the drainage pipe system for the toilets! Que a very angry tannoy announcement several hours later to move the car and then having to suffer the embarassment of lots of peeded off people staring at me as I went to move it! Not gone fence judging since!

erm took sid out when we moved yards in his travel boots all upside down lol everone looked at me like i was a right thicko when we unloaded

I've been to a show and forgotten horses girth, whoops!

Have also forgotten my show jacket when going to shows before...that's why I seem to have three

Lots of dim things. Thrown rug on backwards/upside down/every which way (no big deal, just PITA to pull it off and throw it on again - Brandy snores through it). When I was very young at a yard I was left un-rugging a horse (never done it before and they couldn't be bothered to show me how
mad.gif
), undid surcingales, front buckles, yanked... didn't know there were leg-straps. Thank god it was on an old school plod who couldn't care less. At same yard was sent with a scoop of nuts to split up two big squealy fighting horses and lead one to a new field (come to think of it, that's really not my bad). I survived. Put on Brandy's first pair of WW boots upside down. YO saw, had hysterics. Erm... lots of daft things.

oh, countless! I seem to do more with F than any other horse before, and he's the one who will always notice and take advantage of it! Frequently don't tie him up properly or assume he will be ok tacked up but not tied up while I go to fetch something I've forgotton, so he wanders off to cause mischief. I once forgot to bolt his door and went off to make feeds - we had new cctv so were playing with that when we saw on the screen that he had wandered out of his stable and was rummaging in the neighbour's feed bin!!

I once brought in the wrong little black pony from the field, past his real owner to the owner who i thought he belonged to - and wondered why the little girls were giving me funny looks!

The first time i tried to put the Moose's rug on, I didn't get it over her back and it flopped back and nearly knocked me over. It gave Cazza a laugh, anyway.....

I also tried to put the stirrup leathers onto my new saddle UNDERNEATH the flap...don't ask me what I thought I was doing, i have no idea.

Forgetting to tighten the girth is one of my favourites. All too often, i have been happily riding in the school when someone else has come in and pointed out that there is a good three or four inches of clear air between the girth and the Moose's belly. So far, I have been lucky and not bitten the dirt as a result of this but its only a matter of time. I also fell off in walk, after the Moose spooked at a very small deer.

I'm not safe to be out on my own really!

I did a numpty version of what that poor woman with the escaped horse still saddled did - but mine wasn't an accident...

Last spring, had caught my mare, was just re-attaching the electric fence when she escaped and ran up and down the farmers grass runway (lucky it was baked solid or we'd both have been for the chop!) Walked the 1/2 mile back to the stables and tacked up. Realised my hat was in the stables and trusted Asti to stand whilst I grabbed it (she normally doesn't move) - cue Asti doing one, reins and stirrups flying - galloped back to the others down the runway again and raced about fully tacked up!!!

I had to drag myself all the way back down and she wasn't in the mood to be caught straight away either.

Have also, (everal years ago mind) forgotten to put her haynet in one night, I'd soaked it and tipped it out to drain and then forgot it. Missed putting her water bucket in once too.

And once I'd not shut her door properly and she escaped and eat everyones feeds left outside their stables and demolished lots of haynets... well OK twice...

Well, it wasn't me - it was my OH. He brought what he thought was my little bay mare in from the field and thought 'God she's behaving badly today'. Turns out it was my horror of a bay gelding. Note to OH: check for penis...

Fallen off at the walk - right in front of everyone.

Made a browband out of baler twine because I had left mine at home. Went out for a hack and met absolutely everybody. My Pony was so embarassed (not just about the browband, being seen with me in general).

Tied a haynet too loose. Horse got her neck through the tying thing and tried to hang herself, happily munching hay...!
Terrifying!

Rescued by a lovely person on the yard!

While out on a hack I decided I wanted to build a jump out of branches (I was pretending I was 14 again!) My horses was happily eating the grass so I just let him get on with it. Next thing I knew he was trotting away so I tried to catch up with him but couldn't. He went all the way back home with me running as fast as I could behind him but I had lost sight of him after a minute. When I got back to the yard he was standing in the yard with people milling about wondering if I'd had fallen off him. They were incredulous when I told them that I had been building a jump! I later found out that a car had been following him and at a railway crossing he patiently waited when the barriers came down to let a train pass and then calmy trotted off again once the train had passed.
What an idiot, I've never done that again!

One year and pony club camp i left my tub of garlic granules too close to my pony while i went off to get changed, he ate the lot.............. condition and turnout lady wasnt best pleased when he kissed her.... he stank for ages!

LMAO!
What a wonderful horse!

I think i've done so many stupid things to mention. Once put an indian head dress on Trixie and was trotting about bareback on her in the field. She eventually got fed up of this game and did a rather hilarious duck out and i went over her shoulder. She then refused to be caught and spent the rest of the day with an indian head dress on. Looking truly fantastic.

I managed to fall off in halt the other week

it was on a bridle way and I was leaning across to close a gate (everytime i moved hoss closer he moved back) so I was leaning as far as I could, managed to somehow get my coat caught on it, hoss stepped back, and I found myself knelt down looking at him

Luckily no-one say

Oh and I always take one of his rugs off without unfastening leg straps, because his other turnout just has a fillet string x

Ahhh he is a wonderful horse! He's 7/8 TB and is the most bombproof horse I've ever had. A motor bike once skidded into him and hit him in the back legs. He calmly stepped over the bike and let me get off while I looked for injuries! Luckily he only had a few little cuts, his brushing boots had protected him. He is a one off and I know I'll never get another horse like him.

I went to take a rug off in the field and it was a little windy...undone the front straps, then the cross surcingles, then rug slipped down his back legs with leg straps still done up. He stood stock still for a few seconds then tried to walk, realised his feet were "hobbled" almost and started prancing up and down, luckily came free of the rug very quickly but could have been alot worse....

I now undo the rear leg straps first!
laugh.gif

God, where to start...

Driven off to show without the pony....Driven off with rear trailer ramp still down.....Got all the way to PC camp without any tack whatsoever....the list goes on! And believe it or not I am actually very thorough and conscientious, I just get myself in state when heading out with little kiddo to do a show...

On another note I have actually left after a school parents evening and forgotten to take my child home with me (but then with her report she probably deserved to be left behind!)

I decided to ride my horse in from the field bareback and in his headcollar. I lined him up carefully by a mound of earth, put my leg over his back and the little sod walked off before I could hitch myself on! I landed in a crumpled heap on the floor.
blush.gif

I also once put my leg out to stop a gate from closing on me and my horse. Unfortunately, I caught my foot on the bolt of the gate. Horse walked through and I was dragged off backwards over her a*se!!
shocked.gif
What an angel she was - didn't kick out or charge off, just stopped and looked at me like I'd gone stark raving mad!!

Me and a friend took our horses to thorndon country park and I forgot my girth, so did the entire ride bareback. Ouch!

I do at least one numpty thing every day, thankfully my little horse is patient with me
smile.gif

Cantered along a winding track in the woods weaving around the trees at a fair pace. When the path split around one tree I hesitated briefly to decide which side to pass on and ended up riding my horse into it !! Did the cartoon classic, horse banged his head but passed one side and I got left behind and slide down the tree trunk.
crazy.gif

Trying to put a rug on my horse on a windy day. The wind caught it just as i threw it on her causing it to blow right over my head and my horse to bugger off down the field!!

Also falling off my pony for the first time in 10 years! I was riding her bare back down to the field, no hat, headcollar and lead rope, trainers etc
wink.gif
and she did the biggest spook at some thing in the hedge. I went straight out the side door and on my backside before i knew what was happening. I dont know who was more shocked, her or me!
