Hi,

im just about to start my pony on nupafeed jus wanted some tips. he not doing much work as im a nervous rider and so is he so dont go too well together :( he is very spooky and nervous and im hoping nupafeed will calm him down so he stays calm and then i stay calm???

Must be a thing with 6 year old ponies ! Mine has previously been totally un spooky but after being kept in most of the winter due to weather he has got very spooky when hacking ,he started trying to whip round if he saw something scary so I put him on Nupafeed 2 weeks ago, I am now able to hack out without stopping although I can feel him holding his breath , he will go forward and seems braver ,hope it works for you .

iv only had him 5 months and was very chilled when i viewed him so was perfect for me as i have lost all confidance due to previous horses, had 10 yr gap. i made mistake of buyin a green pony and pretty green myself :( ever since iv had him he as been very nervous & spooky, always really snorty. so didnt ride as was scared, i have my trainer come ride him. when i first got him he would rear in stable and would hate it so had to live out until i got him a friend next door :) now they cant be apart :/ jus wish i had the confidance to push him on but iv lost it all :(

I would give nupafeed a call as they are very helpful and also although it is a good product (i used it with success for my mare) it will only work if your pony is deficient in magnesium. My mare was when the spring grass came through.

What does your instructor make of the situation? where did you buy your pony from?

I tried it with my mare but she hated the taste of it (not normally a fussy eater) and I ended up having to syringe which was a hassle so gave up!

Didn't do anything for mine, but any magnesium based calmer will only work if they are deficient......Could it just be the spring grass coming through?

Also it may be worth you looking at the Bach Rescue Remedies to help keep you relaxed, which may then transfer to your pony.

Good luck!
