I have a little garden shed by my stables that I keep rugs in use. Just for ease of grabbing, the rest are in the house.
I’ve noticed something is hiding nuts in them! So far no damage or chew marks and all I can think of that would stash hazelnuts are squirrels?
Would they harvest food in folded rugs in a shed though? I’ve never even seen a squirrel here.
OH says I need to empty and put it all back in the house which is just a real hassle, would It be rats or mice, I think they just eat stuff straight away.
Do any other little animals stash food? All
The stuff I’ve accidentally thrown all
Over the floor I pick up and hide back for who ever it is 😳😂
Are my rugs in danger?! Any idea what it is?

I had nuts stashed under the seat of my quad...! A LOT of them... I bought a shipping container to keep it in as whatever it was had also begun to gnaw some wiring & the quad didn't need any more excuses to be work shy...!

Ive had rats in the past take the seed heads off timothy hay and store them in a hidden pile, so i think rodents do hoard food too, like squirrels are known to!

Something was hiding nuts/ acorns in my riding boots which were in my tack room. No damage or evidence as to what it was but I suspect a mouse.

I had shoes filled with dog food for a while. I thought it was the dogs and thought it was sweet, until we cleared out the laundry room and found more under a shelving unit, out of reach of the dogs. The funny thing was that there were never any droppings or other signs of rodents.
