We turned nutty up the top field with all he girls
she charged about like a 3 year old
and then stuffed her belly full of grass

at bed time she came trotting over and very happy to go in!
at 9 pm
she was cow kicking and trying to get down
she hadn't eaten her hay or carrots!

So firstly I thought oh she is foaling
then I thought oh no maybe colic!
so I put her a deep bed of straw down and before I had finished laying it she was down
she got up and down 3 times, then started eating her carrots and the straw!!
Hubby thinks she is foaling - but there's still no udder, I am ready to call the vet at any point I think she is in trouble if not I will be calling first thing in the morning.

I am watching her on the monitor she is just dozing at the mo!

also she keeps winking out clear white slim and in my books they say this happening before foaling
but in 14 years of breeding and 40 odd foals I have never seen this before!

I am so worried about my girlie she is the world to me.

I watched her all night - she slept & she got down again at 5.30 still more sleeping and no eating
just waiting for 8.30 to call the vet

Going to go get hubby up now and I will try to get a couple of hours shut eye!

Very Strange
Waiting for vet to call me back for time.
She is just standing now but sweaty

I wondered if it was colic, but she has never had colic before and she continued eating

nutty live's for food and to stop eating is like a really bad sign!

Let's hope the poor old girl's not spent the last 12 hours in some sort of labour like the poor mare in Jules1982's yard.

Good luck, I hope it all ends happily but do get that vet out to have a look, don't let them fob you of with a 'it'll be alright' without looking. Far better a wasted callout than to lose the mare or the foal or even far worse the pair of them IMO.
As you can tell, I'm a little sensitive just now!

Do get a vet to check, I am ultra paranoid now and you will never forgive yourself if something happens, and a call out charge is worth it to have a happy horse!!

The vet did what I asked

Nutty has had her heart, lunges pulse temp checks
and she was PD

The vet said she was very sorry to tell me but nutty was Empty

I don't care as long as she is ok!

So blood test are taken, and the vet is coming back this afternoon and nutty is on watch for the next few days.

I am truely gutted that nutty isn't info she was carrying a very very special line - but I am happy that she is ok

I will look forward to riding her now, to think she has had all the time of!!!
norty nutty, he he

Sad but equally happy ending!

yeah she is out by the house I can see her from my window

Seems it must have been just mild colic although she has never had it before.

Just found your post again.

I'm so so sorry for you; I truely know just how you feel; it's heart breaking but at least you know she is alright and not being in difficulties which will mean a lot.

Huge commiserations and I wish you both much better luck next time. Be warned, it's hit me today far more than when I first knew about Twiggy so take care.

Sam, Im so sorry to hear there's no foalie this time, but as long as Nutty is ok that's the main thing. All that longing and waiting and hoping - it makes it hard, I do know how you feel.

Can you not use Thomas again? (assuming it was his side that you particularly wanted?)

Big hugs. xxx

Thomas has now been gelded, because of bad manners and she couldn't cope with them.

you & Trevalyn stud have very very rare blood!

the line is now in both your hands....
