Maesfen
Extremely Old Nag!
a very good jockey/rider who is happy to travel to a yard to back and ride away a very nervous and very large horse which is kept in the Atherton area?
This is a very genuine plea to find a rider who can work with the owner (a very experienced rider herself who, because of her job, her age and personal family circumstances, does not feel able to take the risk to take the horse further herself until he is ridden away.) Believe me, if she didn't have those responsibilities, she'd be happy to do it herself but she has them so she can't.
Moving the horse is not an option which is why she's a bit stuck but she feels it's not in the horse's best interest to move as well as have strange people dealing with him, it could set him back again and she doesn't want to do that to him, he's had enough trouble in his life already; besides, they have all the facilities you need at her yard.
He is a stunning 17.2 plus with the kindest nature you could wish for but in his early life, (think he's 6) he had been unhandled but so traumatised by people that he has genuine trust issues. She's worked with him for a year now and he's perfect to handle, tack up, lunge etc, it's just the next step she needs help with and it needs to be someone very experienced, calm and not worried but able to sit anything he's likely to do; so someone like a jump jockey/eventer with the right experience, ability and stickability could be ideal.
Any suggestions you might have and contact details would be gratefully received; PM if you'd prefer.
