Well my mare sleeps out in a field 5 mins walk from my house and another 5 mins walk from the yard as it is a rented field. she has the whole field to herself as we dont keep our horses together. so i got up at 6 as normal and went to poo my field half asleep when i got there....NO HORSE!

so after panicking for about 10 mins trying to decide what i should do i walked into the middle of the field to try and see where she had escaped and low and behold she was lying down asleep in the top corner where its quite over grown! lol bear in mind my 'big' field is no where near the size you would get in the UK and you can see to the end of it.

O im sooooo glad she didnt escape although knowing her she would have prob just walked to my house where my gran feeds hers sweeties when we go past hacking!

Yes happens to me too...my horse has access to a field stable and he spends time in there away from the flies. He always tucks himself right over into the corner that is covered by the side and window (and is black and hides in the shadows) and it is not until you are on top of the stable that you see him...I have had many a butterfly in my stomach thinking he is not in there or his field!!!

Me too, especial with our new bay horse, she is so camouflaged, especialy when the weather is dull - your stomach literaly leaps into your throat
