I know this is probably not the right place but can anyone tell me of any good websites for goose keeping?? Just inerited a pair and need to find out a bit more about keeping them and would love to find a forum!

Thanks
Liz

try googling Smallholder and practical poultry, what would you like to know anyway, i've had a bit to do with geese!

Flaming things are worse than guard dogs and have razors in their mouths. They used to hang on the end of my horses tail as he was carrering around the field.

Welll i am wondering about keeping them safe most of all!! I need some form of electric fencing to keep them safe while i am at work. All the things i can see are netting but someome nearby lost a goose using this - it hung itself! So not keen on using this! What other options are there??

electric poultry net is perfectley safe, or 2" chicken wire with an electric line around the top and bottom of the fence. i have honestley never known geese get caught in the poultry net as we keep rare breed geese behing it!

Had Geese well 11 of them... vile things but excellent Guard dogs!!! much more reliable! Never needed electric fencing as we had few acres land and used one stable (later 2 as one of gosling became a family man himself) to accomodate them over night. Just shake the bowl of food they'll come running it's matter of dividing identical geese in to 2 stables! Lovely eggs for breakie too!!!

From personal experience - clipped wings are a possibility when they arrive at the new home. The big danger is Mr Fox, I lost a huge gander during the day, because the dogs were in the house!

We never do anything with our 3! They just roam around the yard and the fields and generally make a mess of the yard once i've swept it!
