My eventer who is the best horse in the world I'm sure (I have had him since he was a foal so I am biased!) has recurring lameness I suspect may be navicular

He had a bone scan 2 weeks ago as he wasn't quite right (not lame really just not quite right) and it showed up some red spots in his hocks, he had x rays with nothing to see and they ultrasounded his suspensorys but they were fine too. They injected his hocks as they thought it might be the start of arthritus prior to any changes.

He wasn't lame enough to nerve block.

I have since been lightly hacking and he can't walk downhill!!! he is sound uphill and on the flat but really really struggled downhill. The vet is coming out again on Fri but I am so worried it might be navicular in his front feet (the bone scan only went from wither to hind fetlocks)

o dear.....

its easy to suspect the worse when its your own horse, but it may just be slight arthritis, or even a different problem you have not thought of......

I hope it goes ok on friday, try to keep your chin up, and avoid going down any hills!

Thanks. I don't think I could ever replace him.

The problems being going on for so long now that I worry it's not fixable and he is not the type to be a field ornament.

I hope it's something else hun, the bay mare in my siggy was diagnosed with navicular in 2006 and I took the decision to have her pts as the only option was to put her on daily bute for her to become a happy hacker which wouldn't suit her at all

But to look on the bright side I now have another fantastic mare so it wasn't the end of the world (though it felt that way at the time.)
