Just a word of warning, it's looking like a mast year for acorns. Trees all round here are very heavy with them.

One way of tackling is to fence off now and put animals on to hoover up till grass gone. Will make it easier to rake up in a few weeks, plus easier to keep animals off later.

I've already got small ones tumbling in the breeze, very spottable in the bare paddock by yard, so little A (who loves them) is now banned from there.
Pah!

Lack of water is causing lots of shedding already. No acorns thank goodness as B sees them as Smarties which need to be hoovered up in vast quantities ? My issue are sycamores and I spent another hour this morning raking up leaves and helicopters. Went down this evening and the fenced off area is already covered again.

Loads of leaves shedding and everything looks wilted here. The trees are full of acorns, but they do seem smaller than normal. I’m not stressing so much as I lost my cob this year and he was the only one that really liked acorns.
