I am looking to a skilled equine vet practice to do a lameness work up for me in the leics/lincs area. Oakham vets and Tower Equine have been recommended, although some mixed reviews of the vets I would expect to be the most "advanced" in their practices.

Does anyone have experience of using either practices, both positive and contructive views would be helpful, thankyou!

I use Oakhm and have done for years although Tower is just down the road from us. Oakham have a all the up to date equipment and can usually treat most problems on site, whereas Tower refer you to Newmarket.

I use Oakham...very good...they have all the equipment needed...very friendly and helpful...prompt action...they discuss their cases together and are interested in your horse.

Unfortunately I can nolonger say Oakham having been with the same vet for nearly 20 years. Felt as though I was not listened to which resulted in it taking 18 months to get the diagnosis he should have had within the first couple of visits (18 months previous). Really sorry, but think they are now too big which can bring with it a new set of problems.

Having exactly the same problem with another local big veterinary practice.Sometimes big with facilities, means a loss of personal dialogue and lack of time to go the extra mile.

Tower - Oakham aren't the practice they used to be unless you are a 'named' eventer and turn up with a lorry full of horses.......:o

FWIW the vets at Tower were partners at Oakham before they went their seperate ways before the building of the new Oakham 'hospital'. Tower were nominated for both PetPlan Equine Vet and Equine practice of the Year this year.

Thank you to everyone who has replied! Great to hear positive reports of both vet practices, the 'constructive' views of Oakham do support the information I had previously heard and do raise a question mark for me. Tower Equine is coming out as my preference - thank you all!!
