Oasby Report - sorry for delay!

Sorry for delay no internet at home!!

Well what can i say i have an amazing horse!!!

Poor Bud was fast asleep at 4.45am when i woke him up! Travelled fine arrived plenty time to gales, such biting wind. Off to walk XC

i was worried thought it was quite big and a lot of questions for us both as only our 4th Novice and first time out etc.......

Got ready for dressage Bud shook his head all way to warm up, was very excited but warmed in well, did very flash trot over to arena and did an excellent test for him so much more mature, very pleased.

SJ - thought course was fairly technical with few related distances but a good height, warmed in fine went in and the little toad ran off with me

got control que canter on spot! He was so full of it. Anyway off we went, difficult to ride not sure what happened think cramped up and got first fence down - thought this might not go well as he was so full of himself! Luckily he jumped everything else clear just not as smoothly as i'd like!

Onto XC - i was so worried in fact crapping my self to be honest! Anyway he left the start box like on a mission in fact jumped the first 4 fences in a flash i merely was a pilot just ate them up, i then thought well lets let him run so off we went he was just amazing just kept hitting the mark and jumping i totally screwed him up to a fence i didn't like, bridge type thing but he found extra legs and spring from no where and got me out of it - everything just was amazing - corners, skinnies, even water he took on with sharp turn in it to skinny log brush we lost bit of momentum in water but i kicked on and he went (not sure what i was doing with hands didn't want to catch him in his mouth so had them by my ears

) So yes XC was just brilliant he didn't faulter at anything

i didn't push really hard for time but thought we'd gone fairly fast.

Results......
34.3 dressage, i did think might be smidge better but still pleaesd, 4 SJ and clear XC with 2.8 time!! so really pleased.......... so we came 6th

and OH took some goods ones will get links and others up soon.....

Thanks for reading

Sounds like a fab first run! Welldone on the 6th, think its pretty bad there wasn't any prize money though, is that usual for Novice? Where are you headed next?

Thank you, i was very shocked no prize money i thought Novice you did get money to 6th???

Eland Lodge next, wanted to do Belton but all Novice dressage is on the friday and i can't have time off work for that so entered Eland, which is actually my local event only 10 mins down road..... then hopefuly Chatsworth! Starting just with one a month and see how we go!!

You did brill - nice to have met you and will see you at Eland/Chatsworth.

Thistle - the novice sections were full, pretty much 40 in each and they hadn't split them like the PN and Intro.

Nice to meet you too!!! yeah be good to meet up at next few events!

They were full weren't they...... i was bit disappointed it wasn't a formal prizegiving too esp after i'd ran back to horsebox to get chnaged and when got back they were just handing rosettes out at secretary's!! Still annoyed no £, it is so expensive just for a rosette i'd even be happy to have got a hoof pick or hair net just something?!?!

That's brilliant, well done you! The bridge was a bit of rider frightener wasn't it (it certainly worked on me anyway!). I can't believe you didn't get prize money for 6th.

I was 5th ina PN at Shelford Manor (also run by BEDE) two years ago and I got 30-odd quid which was very decent for a PN - usually you get a rosette and a dandy brush! That left me with the impression that Buntine run events were quite generous when it came to prize money.......?

I'm with everyone else on the bridge - got a bit close to it and came down very steeply on the other side.

I was 3rd in an intro at Borde Hill and got £30 odd quid!

I would be very very upset of I got placed at Novice (havent as yet!) and not get any money/prize

Wow, sounds like you had a fab time but no prize money
mad.gif
how bad is that?!!!

Looking good for the next event then

My old boy used to come out with spring in his step at the beginning of the season, so much so he used to buck his way round the dressage but when it got further in the season he'd be fine.

Thanks everyone, yes still so happy! Hacked him out this morning and he was as bright as ever nearly had me off twice with a spook rear buck combo - good Budsie!!!
Got some photos to post today, hopefully find time to do it!!
