Right, after a tricky winter of keeping the weight on Sullivan last year, and after the success stories Ive heard, I going to convert. A while ago PF (thanks so much!) gave me the fact sheet, and so Ive got the jist.
However, when would be the best time to start to introduce it?
I cant is the very near future because the vet is playing around with this new treatment for coffin joints, and so he is having a little bit of a break. Not much, he is just being kept ticking over at the moment.

Throughout the summer (ie whilst at camp, competing quite a bit, dressage champs etc) he was on:
double handful of cool mix
some chaff
carrots/apple ifwe had any at home.
plus turnout most of the time

He did very on this, and looked brilliant throughout the summer. He has only lost a bit recently when he went away for 2 weeks (back to old owners (!) ) and they didnt rug him and he was on poor pasture.

Normally in the winter he would have the same as above (larger quantities of chaff), and then sugar beet as well. However no turnout, just ad lib hay all day and as much at night as possible.
Thanks for any help/advice

Hi

I have tried this diet on both my old mare (who is extremely scatty) and my four year old.

It seems so far to be workign a treat on both of them, the mare isnt worked and it has not had any effect on her temperament so far!

The 4 year old continually runs out of petrol so I just feed according to the work he has done that day!

I cant recommend it enough althopugh still in early days (only been on it about 6 weeks!)

Nat
