On my way home from work I pass a dairy farm.
There is a pony turned out in a 20 acre plus field of knee high lush cattle grazing and the state of it is disgusting - it looks more like a beef cow than a pony, and the fat pads and crest are obvious to see, even without getting up close. It is in there on its own and looks like it has unlimited access to the grass.
I do not know the owners, but know the pony vaguely as it was loaned to friends of ours, which they quickly returned as has a bolting issue. I imagine the pony is not excercised because of this, and has just been chucked out in the field and ignored.
Is there anyone I could contact? As I said I don't know the owners, but suspect they are farmers more than 'horse people', so maybe dont realise the dangers they are putting the pony in. Equally I am not a very brave person and would feel uncomfortable approaching them about it directly.
Thanks in advance x
