Good Morning everyone,
I hope some of you can help with some advice.
I have an 8 year old that has had OCD legions in both fetlocks. He has had no recurrence in 2 years, no need for surgery and is currently doing very well.
I would really like to press on with his training (he is an ex-pacer) things have been quite slow but we now have a beautiful trot and are working on the canter - he can canter beautifully on a hack however in the school maybe does 2 strides then paces as he gets his legs confused. I would really like to work on these canter transitions in the school on a lunge - do you think this will cause any major problems if I lunge him once a week in big circles?
Also, there is a lady interested in training him to showjump and cross country - what are your experiences in horses being able to do this after having OCD - I dont envision him doing any large showjumping competitions just local things but I dont want to try if it is going to put his welfare at risk. I think he will be perfectly fine but I have never seen it before.
Thanks
Rachel
