Sorry if I sound a little thick here.
My horse has been disunited in canter so we popped off to the vets for investigations yesterday.

X rays revealed he has 'significant changes' in his stifle. I saw the X-ray and the vet explained that the joint should be smooth but is now rough.
I was a bit numb TBH Sao didn't ask the questions I should have done.

He has had an injection into the joint - H something or other (I really should call the vet and get it all explained)

The vet is coming out in 4 weeks time- he won't give me a prognosis until then.

So of course I have been doing some research but I'm not sure what I'm looking for.

Could someone please explain OCD and DJD?

Thanks in advance

In all honesty doing your own research will probably scare you, be ready for that.

Here is some info about OCD http://www.equineortho.colostate.edu/questions/ocd.htm

From my own experience DJD is really hard to have any certainty about, its a bit like navicular in that in some horses it will be crippling very quickly and in others you'd never know they had it and they carry on a relatively normal life for years, with every possible senario in the middle.

Wait until your vet gives you more info before you let yourself worry or you'll have a miserable 4 weeks, think positive thats the only advise I can really give.

Hope it works out ok for you.
