OCD in both stifle joints

My 8yrs old TB has been diagnosed with Osteochondrital Dissecans in both stifle joints something I now understand that large TB,s can be predisposed to . Has anyone had similiar ? I am awaiting the medical report from my Vet to decide if we go through the debridement of the joints .I understand that it is not always a total success and as yet dont know what the percentages are especially as the lesions on his nearside stifle are severe.
The Op is in excess of £3000 and the is a requirement for 12 weeks box rest after . So there is a lot to think about before I can decide what best to do .

Sorry to hear about your guy.

We had our 2yr old put down because of it. He was in so much pain we couldn't control it. And he wouldn't of been able to do anything but be a companion. He was bred to event so wouldn't be happy sitting in a field. We decided the op was too risky, as you say it might not work.
I suppose it depends on how bad it is.
