have you had a young horse with ocd if so when did you notice it and what age. what were the signs and what limbs and treatment. i have a 9 month old filly you i think might have it in her hock vet coming in the morning

Yes in a yearling highland filly.

Stifle, no treatment, we had her PTS. The vet agreed it was the way to go and I was greatfull to them for giving an honest opinion...... she was however not insured.

hi there!

my mare was diagnosed as bilateral hocks and stifle OCD as a 4yr old, after a yr off and steady rehab over a that time she now dressage, xc, sj, hunts, pleasure rides. Worst case scenario horse gets arthritis in old age, but who doesnt? :)

Hope the prognosis is good for a young horse i have fingers crossed x

well interesting day to say the least as would Gemma load into the trailer would she heck that was until wee blind folded her. Anyway got to the vet school and she wouldn't go in the main so so we had to reverse her in then wouldn't go into a stable so she examined in the corridor lol oh and then wouldn't go on the scales stubborn little **** she is but she was reversed on again . so she got x-rayed and does have ocd in her hock luckily caught early tho. so plan is for box rest for 8 weeks course of 7 adequan injections 4 days apart the re x-rayed to she if they need to go to surgery in 8 weeks time. Lucky white heather

x-rays available on request
