Dog was playing in her paddling pool today. While drying her off I realised she had two little wounds. Looks like little scabs have fallen off, right on the joint. But because of all the press about Alabama Rot I am of course panicked. They are not at all sore and dog certainly hasn't noticed them, and she hasn't recently been in any danger zone (in fact I don't even know of any nearby cases) so I don't know if I have just gone utterly paranoid.

Trying to listening to veterinary advice of "try not to worry, it's not that prevalent" ... but she's my baby!

Could not read without commenting - ordinarily I wouldn't think twice about wounds like this, but I totally understand your worry. Fingers are tightly crossed for you xx

That's pretty much what my vet said from seeing the picture. There's nothing else to see or feel. Will take another close-up in the morning and compare. Any change and she's in for a kidney function test. My life is too erratic as it is for me to be able to cope with any uncertainty.

Realistically, I am fairly confident that she either got caught on something out at the weekend and the scabs softened in the paddling pool. Or maybe the puppy accidentally bit her while they were playing. I have matching vampire marks on my own arm although it would have taken a lot to pierce her skin!

I would be exactly the same as you. I would say that its more than likely that they are little nicks from playing with the pup but think you did the right thing letting your vet see them. Fingers crossed for you.

Must admit I have a stupendous bruise on my arm from new lurcher rescue so I can understand this! Like I said, fingers crossed - please keep us updated if you can xx

They look the same this morning but I have another little wound on her hind leg. I mean, when I say "wound" ... teeny tiny, nothing I wouldn't even look at normally (little nick from a bramble!) but because our media keeps going about this thing. I think I have hypochondria by proxy. I am stressed about other things and taking it out on my poor animals. Have taken pictures ...

She went for a run this morning, super energetic, greedy pig as always, and then had a quick bath for good measure ....

Just to let you all know that my dog seems absolutely fine and her little wounds are healing.

I think with the heat she's possibly been choosing to lie on the concrete in the shade rather than on the grass ... Anyway, she's fine !
