Basically...just wondering if anyone has any thoughts or advice

.

Recently I noticed that my boy seems to have tiny fly/midge bites on his sheath area, and tiny flecks of blood were visible on his legs.

Today I noticed when he had got his manhood out, there were more bites, and even some midges stuck to his willy

. Although not shocking it was pretty unpleasant so I proceeded a little tidy up with some babywipes, which was all I had to hand.

Now my dilema is how can I stop this, I don't want to have to interfere too much with downstairs, and I'm not sure it's safe for fly spray? I think part of the problem is WHENEVER he's relaxed he gets it out, so I imagine this is a regular occurance when he's relaxing in the field!

Anyone had a similar problem?

Yep all the time

I found feeding lots of brewers yeast stopped the pin pricks of blood completely.

I also spray a non-sting fly repellant over it and nettex itch stop salve in the morning and sudocream at night.

He is quite used to me putting lotions and potions on.... as long as they don't sting, otherwise you soon know about it!!

Oh how I love sweet itch season!!

Any tack shop that sells 'Gold Label' products. I'm lucky as have a bloke that sells it in my village so get 5kg boxes!

If stuck Holland & Barrett do brewers yeast powder too... I think it was about £3 for 500g.

If still stuck some people use marmite, but I prefer sticking 2 scoops of powder into a feed!

My friend's mare used to have this problem round her teats. She used Avon skin so soft for years very successfully to keep the critters at bay, just dabbed on with cotton wool. I wouldnt put it on his actual willy tho, first it might sting and second, well it's just not decent!!

Avon Skin so soft is ermm willy proof and does not sting (I tested it on one of my cuts before trying!)

However I've found that Barriers midge fly repellant is better, plus it does solidify on colder days like the skin so soft.

I used a mixture of my home made fly spray on the external area - contains Avon skin so soft and essential oils - on his todger I used sudocream. I now also feed brewers yeast which I get with my other simple systems feeds.

So far his todge has been fine this year, but last year he had to have a course of steriods to help with the swelling and him constantly "ground humping".

Hi. Let me tell you this, on visits to the midge ridden west coast of Scotland we discovered an Avon product (it's true) which the American Forces use!!!!

Avon Skin So Soft Dry Body Oil. At the time the one to use was called woodland fresh but this has now been changed.

It works. My bald headed husband could walk bear headed dawn to dusk wihtout being bitten. OK so he smelled a bit 'nice' but that is truely a small price to pay for being a midge free zone!
I now use this on my horses bits and his ears, neck and tail as well as myself and manage hacking in the forests with NO MIDGIES!

You can buy Avon products on line. Have seen it on ebay too.

try it!

Mine gets this in spring/summer. I just bathe the outside and just inside with warm water and a sponge, put Protocon cream all over it where the bites are (outside), then give a really good spray with fly spray. Seems to work.
