So I am doing my 2nd ever ODE in 2 weeks! I got eliminated in my last attempt!

Does anyone have any good tips for making it through the whole day (for both me and horsey!!) what to take feed wise (for us both) etc ...

Oh and any tips in the run up to the event.

Lunch for you, haynet for your horse! Make sure you take the haynet away about 2 hours before you go XC - you wouldn't want to run round with a full stomach

make a list of all the clothes you need, all the tack your horse needs so that you've got a checklist to make sure you don't forget anything

Water and 2 buckets - one for washing him off, one for his drinking water

If you use studs. make sure the holes are cleaned out the day before so you don't have to waste time and stress about doing that on the day. Also, that your shoes are well fitting - there isn't usually a farrier onsite!

Remember to make sure your tack's clean and is allowed under the rules

Also, remember to enjoy yourself! It's meant to be fun!

plenty of water (especially if its hot) and i'd also recommend taking some chop or something like that which you can put electrolytes in and make really sloppy - you'd want to give this within an hour of going XC but make sure horse has finished puffing. ice tight for legs and brown paper bags to put over it. body protector and medical armband (if needed), all your tack for the 3 disciplines and your clothes (make a list- its easy to forget something!)
apart from that- make sure you know your DR test, give yourself plenty of time for course walking and enjoy it!
