hi all , had my mare on regumate since march . however, i have just run out and due to the shortage it looks like this won’t be arriving in the uk for another few weeks .
i buy online with a prescription at 120 and my vet has some in stock but at 190 . to save an extra 70, should i feed her loading dose oestress until regumate comes back in stock ? or just bite the bullet

supplements don't do anything for my mare unfortunately, so I'd be inclined to cough up the extra £.

Depends how horrible she gets if you take her off the regumate and whether that matters much? eg are you competing etc or does it not matter if she is a bit off for a few weeks? I suspect you will find that once the supplies come back the price will also go up anyway. You could use the interim period to work out whether a supplement may work instead but I would honestly think this unlikely if you have gone down the regumate route in the first place. Or ask the vet about implants and whether that may work for her?

I use Balance mare from Equifeast https://equifeast-shop.com/feeds-co...-core-more/balanced-mare-no-chelated-calcium/

Have used stroppy mare too with some positive results. Also used Regumate, but so expensive, and having to stop using it and start again, in the end could not be bothered with it.

so she started her season yesterday and she was just squirting at all boys (and girls !) . she was then just a bit shouty in the stable to the others which is unusual for her . however she worked well for me for our schooling session yesterday and today . so maybe i will just try the oestress and see how she goes ..

Oestress didn't touch mine. Have you looked into the Improvac jab. It's not to be taken lightly, but after years on Regumate with reduced effectiveness, I went with the Improvac jabs. I regretted it at the time due to extreme side effects, but once it all settled down, it's been a game changer. If you decide against Improvac, I'd definitely pay a bit more and get the Regumate from the vet.
