I keep seeing lots of opportunities for dressage riders to improve themselves off the horse - DRT, Pilates directed for lengthening, How To Dressage course online, Rider Guider app etc etc.

Does anything exist for aspiring showjumpers? Apps/ courses? I know riding is the gold standard but with only one horse that is limited, so it would be really helpful to have something to get my eye in/train my brain with a young showjumper

I don't know. I don't need to attend a Seminar on what judges are looking for in a leg yield, and how to execute a half pass.

The flatwork I do with my jump instructor is slightly different to what I do in dressage lessons.

I just feel like there's lots I can watch/ engage with on dressage.

Where are you based?

Racewood at Tarporley in Cheshire has fantastic facilities including a dressage and an eventing simulator.

I’m currently rehabbing from a human knee strain and intend going there when further on in my recovery to have a physio session including time on the simulator. Also an outdoor arena if you want to bring your own horse for a combined session.

There are a number of different trainers who use the facilities. At least one is an HHOer 🙂.

I’ve no idea what it feels like to ‘jump’ on a simulator, but the dressage simulators are brill.

Fitness - flexibility and strength work.
Watch videos and then role model. Look at why people had poles.
On the horse if I don’t want to wear their legs but want to practice I will do a lot of poles. Aiming to count down from 6 to get to the pole perfectly. Just normally throw them round the area. Also have poles on 19yds and will adjust canter. All easy stuff but not adding wear

Ooh I am booked in there next week on the simulator …. I wonder who the HHO er is ???!!!

A simulator is a good idea and Tarporley is definitely a good one (three!).

Have a look at @equimech on FB (and she has a website), ex upper level Eventer (went round Bramham before it "downgraded") and is now a brilliant rider biomechs trainer, doing a lot of stuff off horse.

Does anyone know which of the list of coaches on the Racewood Taporely website are best for jumping? I REALLY need to develop some better muscle memory - I know what my bad habits are, and how to correct them. Unfortunately I seem unable to multitask effectively - when dealing with a real life horse and all his quirks and foibles, I forget what I should be doing and revert to my bad habits. So I'd really like to spend a few hours at Racewood just repeating and repeating jumping in the correct position, until it is engraved in my brain. Also, I live 3.5 hours from Taporley, so ideally I'd like quite a few sessions on the same day. Any recommendations please?
