ok so I know I haven't been very 'present' on the forum over the last few months, and indeed this year has been a bit of a wash out competitions wise. So I just wanted to do a little post to say I promise to make amends for my absence and post much more from now on.

Having Soap PTS and having to bring on a baby horse slowly and carefully has meant that I've had to sideline competitions a little in favour of training. It has been torture reading everyone's facebook and HHO updates on their competing antics - Serious withdrawal symptoms I even took to doing more housework to keep myself occupied!!! Must be bad!

I've felt quite guilty this year as a result of my lack of eventing, guilty that I haven't been giving my sponsors much 'value for money'. So to come home today and find a MASSIVE box full of goodies sent from my first and ever faithful sponsor Mountain Horse was just fantastic! It's really lifted my spirits and given me the 'kick up the bottom' I needed to believe in myself and Dustry's capability and just get on with it....stop trying to get perfect...it's time to just get out there now

So this is me and GHE kicking on! next competition is Dec 10th dressage. This is a sort of new years resolution a bit early. Anyone feeling the effects of 'the winter funk' then feel free to post your aims too, and here's to a productive winter followed by a super spring

Ginger nuts and a greek yog on offer....well make that 1.5 ginger nuts..

1 ginger nut....

.5 ginger nuts...

greek yog anyone?... ;)

Wow thats fab, what a nice pressy to come home too!!

Im hoping to have a productive winter, although feeling the pinch a bit as Ive brought a house so Ive gone from living with the parents and not worrying about money to having bills to pay! I was planning to go BS but shock horror I just cant motivate myself to do it I want to sort my dressage out so I can event, found a few new good instructors so am working on it, there is a fair bit of arena eventing near me so going to try to do some of that to keep our eye in! But had it on good authority my mare should do a fab test if I can get her to relax!

Look forward to reading some dustry comp reports!

Winter is a bit of a de-railer isn't it. I think most eventers go into 'dressage hibernation' where jumping is put on the back burner for a bit. I'm hoping to start doing some little jumping comps soon, good luck for your BS and arena eventing sounds mega fun!

how lovely and generous of Mountain Horse, good for you!
i'm a bit guilty of the 'trying to get it perfect before going out in public' thing, was about to a week or two ago then the mare in question decided to have a meltdown about poles (?!?!), but am itching to get out there too, so i know how you feel!

it's tricky balance isn't it k?... one hand you want to be super prepared, then on the other you just think 'argh i want to get out there' He's ready now to crack on with the dressage competing so we will be out clocking up the stressage miles now, then jumping mileage to start a little later :)

I'm in a similar place but I feel like I need to get some comp mileage back under my belt as well. I NEED to event next year so have to get competing so we both have our eye in. I couldn't bear another season without eventing... Even if it's only teeny tiny I have gotta get out there!

Lovely to see a post from you! I'm still sad for you about Soap, but nice to see you moving forward!

I might tentatively join you. This year has been awful for me too - ill horse, subsequently PTS, just got going with other horse, now she's on box rest and might be fine or might have to be PTS too  So assuming it's the first, I'm hoping the weather will be kind this winter, and I will be going to everything I can find in the hope of getting her finally eventing next year :)
