Which would be best to bath him with normal shampoo or fairy liquid (or woudln't it make a difference) he is a border collie and has a lot of hair. I have used mane and tail conditioner on his tail a fair bit but would it be ok to use on his body without it becoming greasy?

thanks

If you're not going to use a doggie shampoo, then I'd just use a mild regular or baby shampoo. I wouldn't use the mane and tail conditioner personally (I mean on my dog!)

I wouldn't use fairy liquid - its quite harsh... I use baby shampoo on mine

The stuff I use is called Earthbath. So far as I've found, it's the best shampoo I've used, and most everyone else who's tried it agrees. It leaves your dog's coat silky and shiny and it lasts a long time. In my own experience, the shampoo lathers up really easily; the nozzle thing is small and it seems like the itty bitty pool of shampoo in your hand isn't going to lather a penny's worth of shampoo on your dog, but amazingly, it does!

Earthbath comes in several different varieties (though one conditioner line). The best thing about it, IMO, is that it can be used for humans, too. The owner/creator of Earthbath uses it herself, and I use it, and I can tell you, my hair looks the best it ever has! It took a few weeks to start seeing the result, but it's totally worth it. And my scalp doesn't itch anymore, which was becoming a problem before I started using the Earthbath.

Earthbath is also biodegradable and isn't tested on animals, if that's what people are concerned about.
