Off to try our first ever solo hack!

Sorry for the late reply!

She was PERFECT! Could not fault her. Walked out happily down the road and back (Just over a mile in total) Went past a broken down car, couple of cyclists, a lady and her dog, a family with a pushchair. Then coming back the AA man was with the broken down car so we halted and let a few cars come past (I like to be kind to motorists) Got off and on to do a gate and she was perfect. So proud of her. Oh, we got a nice comment on our hi viz again too :O)

I'd like to add that I only backed my mare very lightly in April before she went lame. I got on her on Wednesday for the first time in 6 weeks for a walk round the school. Hacked her Thursday and Friday (Was supposed to have someone on the ground but as we were walking off the yard they decided they didn't feel well so I was kind of chucked into going without a safety net!) and she went in front happily (massive confidence boost) so that's why i tried the lone hack!

I move yard in 2 weeks to the other side of the village, so need her to hack alone so I can meet up with my old yard mate Who dont seem to have a horse between them who will hack alone so I am so happy.

Thanks to all who wished me luck xx

Well done...how nice to have a positive happy story about solo hacking for once - so often on here it is as though there are no horses (or riders) who dare hack out alone!

Now you have done it once there will be no stopping you :)
