As title, i am off to look at 2 potential new neds tomorrow, my question to you all is, if i like one do i put a deposit on it there and then? if so, what about getting it vetted? if it fails will i get the deposit back? Or do i get it veted first and then put a deposit on it, so sorry but haven't bought a horse in a long time?

hi kate- how exciting

its up to you what you do...i usually go off gut feeling about the vendor- do i think they will sell horse from under me or do they seem honest people..?
usually if you pay a deposit you will get it back if horse fails- but just get them to write this on your receipt.

personally i would go and see both horses and video them. then come back and watch the videos 5 billion times and show the appropriate people (friends, trainers, whatever) and then ring the vendors maybe monday night to arrange vetting or to let them know you not interested or maybe arrange to go back for another viewing.

If your serious about one leave a deposit refundable on failure of vetting. get a reciept in writing and go from there, good luck!

I've always bought mine outright, no vettings. Had issues with both of the expensive ones, but they are issues that wouldn't have shown up on a 5* vetting, unless I had scans, x-rays and nerve blocks, etc. done.

I put a deposit on them then either went and collected, or they were delivered, a week later
