Hi, was just wondering if anyone could give me any deets on this chasers course? I'm hoping to go in a couple of weeks if the grounds okay and just wanted a nice fast hack with a bit of XC schooling thrown in if that's doable? Is there a good variety of not too big fences for inexperienced horses and places for a good canter? If you have photos from there I'd love to see! Thanks

Harry usually closes it at the end of October/ early November, based on ground conditions. It has been so wet this way and with the clay ground it is churning up with the horses just at a walk.

The jumps are quite meaty, in my opinion. There aren't many that go below 2'6", and there are some wide ones. A lot of them are disconcerting, they look small as you ride towards them, and then you realise the heights and width of them when you get launched into orbit!! :D :p
At the beginning of the ride there are a few smaller ones, and then late on a few little logs and barrels, but quite a lot of big rails etc. after that. The river will probably be quite high though, so have to be cautious of the jumps around them.

Plenty of places for canters etc though.

RE photos- if you are on Facebook, go on Unaffiliated XC course photos ('duckling' on here has a link to it in her sig) and there are various ones on there.

Definitely phone Harry if you are planning to go, but not on a Friday afternoon or the weekend as he rarely answers business calls on those days...

Hmmm maybe it's not a great idea then. We wanted to do more a fast hack than XC schooling and my horse has only done XC once so don't want to over face him. Any other suggestions for good places to take the horse for a fun fast ride with maybe a bit of jumping? We were thinking cannock (bit of a trek) or Lincombe.

Well Offchurch is £25, so you could always hire solihull XC for the same cost. So, you can hack round the fields, plenty of space to canter etc and then all the jumps too.

Never been to Cannock (a right trek out for us) or lincombe so cannot comment on them.
