Hi Guys just a bit of a grumble here really. I've found a lovely boy and made a firm offer this lunchtime and booked a vetting for later this week. Now turns out there is another vetting later this week:mad:.

.... anyway laws of supply and demand apply and I can't force her to honour a deal but didn't I see a thread this week that the market was dead?? Well I can assure you its alive and well in Yorkshire!!!!

Frustrating though it may be in this case, it takes more than just offer and acceptance to make a legally binding contract!!! Pain in the whatsit in this case though....

I'm a contract lawyer and technically it is a contract but its not worth the hassle as the offer was verbal although we did shake in front of witnesses. Just annoyed that she got herself and us in this mess by not being clear.

So which vetting is 1st? Assuming that yours is 1st and he passes then the deal is done isn't it? Or is she expecting you both to have him vetted and fight it put between you? Sounds rather strange to me. I wouldn't be wastingy my money on a vetting if there was no guarantee he was mine should he pass the vetting.

Sorry, you only mentioned the offer and acceptance in your post so I (wrongly!) assumed the other elements were not present and the contract was not complete.

What a bugger - you must be so p-----d off - had you been looking long for the right horse?

Thanks I've only been looking around 14 days or so as I only lost my much loved old boy 6 weeks ago. I've always been pretty clear on spec for any new boy so narrowed down to one the other week - sarcoid , so no go and this one with some confusion. The seller says she will honour the agreement so its still hopeful.
I dont really want to do a joint vetting etc as that just encourages brinkmanship, none of this is personal but in the end the seller has to pick a viable and best offer and commit or risk losing everyone. So just really a grumble to those who will understand and a positive note to sellers that the market is alive and well for the right spec horse.

I think if I agreed a price subject to a successful vetting and left a deposit to secure this I would expect the owner to sell to me and not another party.

I would walk away if she has someone else being led up the garden path. Unacceptable. But understand you shouldnt cut your nose to spite your face if its the horse of your dreams. But on principle I would walk if its really not clear and I was being messed around.

She either wants to sell or not? But good luck.
