Official measuring in Ireland help!

Hi all,

I’m hoping to start showing my horse in the coming season, but I need to have him measured first. There’s a SJI pony measuring day coming up soon and I’d like to get to that, but is it also for non SJI horses? I can’t find anything on horse measuring so I assume it’s open to horses too? Any advice on it is appreciated! Do I need to be a member of SJI?

Are you showing in Ireland or the UK? An SJI stamp does not always equate to a JMB height certificate.

Looking at the rules it does appear the pony measuring venues are for the purposes of SJI pony measurements only - so for 128, 138 and 148. They won't hold for any other discipline.

I live in NI, and I'm going to disagree with Shay, and say that the SJI measuring sessions are for SJI ponies and for other horses or ponies who need a measurement for any other reasons.

I'm taking our welsh sec A next Sunday to have her measured for her 122mm M&M working hunter classes.

No idea on whether the English cert carries weight over here though.

Agree, Eventing Ireland accept a measuring page carried our by SJI when measuring a pony with EI.
In fact I'm not aware, but dont claim any expertise, of any other measuring authority in Ireland that carries out measuring clinics but stand to be corrected

I'm in Ireland - I've had my horse measured at the SJI measuring days - they are open to all horses and ponies that need a cert. I needed mine for Small Hunter showing!

Make sure you show up with your passport and your horse in a bridle - thats pretty much it!
