of the weather and ground conditions this season!

Having endured another day of mud and rain, then the hail started - then thunder to top it off! Horse started to have a melt down as the hail was going down his ears....

Went home at 1.30pm - I am usually pretty hardy and like to stay out all day but it just isn't worth it atm.

Anyone else feeling the same?!

I am sick of it too, most of our hacking is on grass tracks and I have not been on any of those routes for weeks its just too wet, only other option is woods and most of that is under water, I cant hack one of mine on the road too flighty for the bendy country lanes, our menage gets water logged too so I am pretty much stuck most days have got soaked through so many times, just praying for some drier weather to come soon.

Me too - I know it happens every year but that doesn't make me hate it any less.

Winter = mud
Summer = horseflies
Spring & Autumn = the best seasons but not long enough!!

Our bridle paths are rubbish at the moment, I went out last week and we got stuck in a swamp that's not usually there. Was so frightening and I've vowed not to go down that bridle path again until spring :(

i feel sorry for the people paying for hunter liveries, the hunt staff, people trying to sell hunters...I could go on..it is just so horribly horrible out there the whole hunting economy must be suffering....

I think we are lucky. So far we have only lost 1 day!! We have had a few short days but have managed to keep going out. Sat was good but heavy in places and horses very tired at the end.

I was the transport on Saturday I got the call at half one they where freezing and miserable .
Usually I am thinking come on come on call me even the ever enthusiastic MrGS had had enough .
I have had one horse coughing it's fine now I am seriously considering called its day with that one .

We haven't lost any days but I have chosen not to go on several days either when we have been at places which are notoriously wet at dry times or when the weather is good for ducks only.

I seem to be in a never ending rut of tack, horse and boot cleaning, such a pain as nothing is clean and I hate mud.

Don't want to miss too many days though as there isn't all that many left!

Horrible. I've got a 6 yr old TB, first season hunting, and I've decided pretty much not to jump any more this season as the ground is so awful for jumping out of, I'm sure he'll hurt himself or at the least it will put him off jumping altogether as it's so difficult!
