My whippet has smashed 3 ribs (nice clean breaks) but she is in agony:( breathing is very harsh (obs she is bruised to hell) bless her she barely made a noise when the others hurtled into her at about 30 miles an hours:( just crabbed it back to us over the field (looked very winded) I got her home and immediatlely noticed her concave side/crackling under the skin and harsh resps.

So some pain relief and Xrays later and she is well and truley out of it. So I will be watching her breathing and checking her colour all night now:(
Back to work tomorrow for post xrays and a pain relief programme (she is gonna need it) bless her:(

Vibes for bluey, that she gets through the night ok (((()))))

Oh poor Bluey, thats the trouble with Whippets and Greyhounds there is nothing of them. Hope she has a reasonable night and the vet can fix her up tomorrow and she is not out of action for too long. Hope she gets better soon poor little girl.Lots of gentle hugs and healing vibes.

Thanx everyone, I dont normally do the vibe thing, I think it's because it's a breathing thing and I hate it, I find myself staring and fixated awaiting change and stressing. She seems comfortable but her little chest is going fifty to the dozen, poor little bugger:(

Ouchies! That sounds horrific! For what it's worth, I know from experience what two cracked ribs feel like, but three broken ones - ouchies, ouchies!

<<<<<Vibes>>>>> for Bluey.......... and for Cayla? Well, a good a night as possible under the circumstances! Sounds like regular infusions of caffein will be in order! ;):)

As I predicted (no sleep) Im watching alsorts of crap on TV:o (your face or mine just finished):p and bless her she is heaving away:( I keep propping her cushion up and checking her resps/colour she cannot sleep/eyes wide open but she is still and comfortable for now.

Poor little whipster (cannot be nice) only 4 hours and she can have somemore pain relief.
Thanx for the vibes:)

Does it help that I had no sleep either, started with Buster barking from midnight through to 3. I then opened the door so he could be near Teal and Dylan in their crate but Teal went mad whenever Buster came near.

So at 0430 had enough, opened the crate (left it closed) and let them have the utility rooms and hoped for the best (that Teal and Dylan didnt go on the rapange or fight with Buster) I slept downstairs so I could hear their every move and they were all crammed on an old duvet they had pulled down fast asleep when I got up half hour ago Grrrrrrr!!!!

I fell like s***e this morning, but the dogs look quite happy and would like a lay in thank you very much!!!

How is Bluey this cold morning?

Bloody hell Toffee, I feel your exhaustion:eek: Im knackered, I fell asleep at 7.45am:( till exactly 8.15am:eek: so 30 mins sleep for me.:(

Just got back from work where we re X-rayed (all bruised and broken and her heart looks a little enlarged but normal considering the bruising, she has remained there (bless my colleagues) so I can come home and sleep and they can begin pain relief (she is in agony) but with this kind of injury it gets worse before it gets better, so for the next 24 hrs she is going to be sore as hell (her breathing is still very harsh) but to be expected.

She bit me this am:D she obs did not appreciate my heavy handedness when lugging her off the floor:o never seen her bite was rather funny but not nice for her (sore thumb for me):D

So, im going to have some sleep and return to work later on the collect her.

Enjoy your Zs Cayla and very gentle hugs from me for your girlie. Poor little girl. Hopefully she will stay well out of the way of the biggies in your pack in future. J x

Thanks M, yeah I think I will be enforcing a "quiet life now" :) setting off to pick her up in a min, hopefully she will be more comfortable (I will let OH drive) so I dont flip her out of her bed with my last minute breaking!!:D

Poor Bluey, I know how she feels, I broke 2 of my ribs in the Summer courtesy of my horse and it blooming killed!! Hope she is feeling more comfortable today and that you both manage to get some sleep later x

Cayla - we had a dog at work with fractured ribs. I sat up all night as the poor dog was in agony. I remember that we put local anaesthetic down a chest tube and it worked brilliantly. Don't know if that helps at all.

Sending loads of healing vibes xxxx

Oh now thats interesting, will have a word to the boss woman..........I currently have 12 syringes full of vetergesic to see her through the next few days.
I feel so sorry for her:(

OMG poor Blue  Mine have been close to that on occasions, Amy and Flick regularly run into each other, but thank god no broken bones yet - I hope poor ickle Blue mends quickly :)

She is so tiny and the other are so fast, it was a hell of an impact:( she seems more comfortable but still heaving like hell (bless her) she has eaten some chicken though, she would not touch a bite until about an hour ago.

Poor little girl everytime she moves must be agony for her, hope you get a half decent nights sleep tonight and she is feeling a bit better also. Good news that she has eaten something.
