Horse I've been riding and competing since June while i'm 'between horses' has been lame for about 4 weeks- upon visiting again today vet thinks it's lymphangitis

poor lad is hobbling around with a leg the size of a football.
Anyone had any experience of lymphangitis? Have googled but just ended up scaring myself reading horror stories about legs swelling up from hoof to hindquarter and pus leaking from coronet band

antibiotics and bute
i found rubbing it with a warm wet towel helped and little and often walks
but once they have had it once they are always prone to it

ABs and Steroids. Should help to prevent bacteria settling in. Bute shouldnt be necessary unless bacteria have already set up camp. Shouldnt be lame if acute.

ETS this clearly isnt acute. Ignore the bute part.

Hi Mollya
Stop worrying! Vet has sorted! Trust him/her (+ stop googling + asking us unqualified lot!)
Vet's seen horse, is treating him. It's just lymph glands working OTT, got inflammation there, prob cos of infection in leg.
(Maybe owner could keep closer eye on him, when you're not there?)
Stop worrying, vet has sorted! BS x
